Making the NDIS Simple.

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a new way of providing individualized support for people with disability, their families, and carers. It is designed to give you choice and control over the support you receive.

At Care 4 Community, we don’t just deliver services; we help you understand the system so you can get the most out of your funding.

What is the NDIS?

The NDIS is a Commonwealth Government initiative that funds support services for Australians under the age of 65 living with a permanent and significant disability.

The goal is simple: To provide the reasonable and necessary supports you need to live an ordinary life and achieve your personal goals.

Who is Eligible?

Not everyone with a disability is an NDIS participant. To access the scheme, you generally need to meet the following criteria:

  • Age: Be aged between 7 and 65 years at the time of application.
  • Residency: Be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or hold a Protected Special Category Visa.
  • Disability: Have a permanent impairment that significantly affects your ability to take part in everyday activities, or require early intervention (for children).

Understanding Your Funding

Your NDIS plan is divided into three main budgets. Understanding these helps you know what you can claim.

1. Core Supports (The "Right Now" Support)

This budget helps you with everyday activities and your current disability-related needs. It is flexible, meaning you can often move funds between categories.

  • Daily Activities: Assistance with self-care, showering, and cooking.
  • Consumables: Everyday items like continence aids or low-cost assistive technology.
  • Social & Community Participation: Support to engage in social activities.
  • Transport: Funding to help you travel to work, school, or the community.

2. Capacity Building (The "Future" Support)

This budget is for building your independence and skills for the future. Funds here are strictly allocated to specific categories.

  • Support Coordination: Help to navigate your plan and find providers.
  • Improved Daily Living: Therapy services (OT, Speech, Physio) and skill building.
  • Employment: Support to find or keep a job.
  • Health & Wellbeing: Exercise physiology and dietetics.

3. Capital Supports (The "Big Ticket" Support)

This funds investments, such as expensive assistive technology (wheelchairs), equipment, or home and vehicle modifications.

Support Coordination: Navigating Your Journey

The NDIS can be complex. That is why *Support Coordination* exists. If funded in your plan, our Support Coordinators can:

  • Connect you with trusted service providers.
  • Negotiate service agreements and quotes.
  • Prepare you for plan reviews.
  • Resolve issues or crises if your support network breaks down.

We offer both Level 2 (Coordination of Supports) and Level 3 (Specialist Support Coordination) for complex situations.

NDIS Reforms & Updates (2024/2025)*

The NDIS is evolving. Following the recent *NDIS Review*, the government is implementing changes to put people with disability back at the center of the scheme.

  • What this means for you: The focus is shifting towards better foundational supports and ensuring the scheme remains sustainable.
  • Our Promise: We stay up-to-date with every legislative change (including the Getting the NDIS Back on Track Bill) so you don’t have to worry about compliance. We ensure your services always meet current government standards.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does "Reasonable and Necessary" mean?

The NDIS only funds supports that are related to your disability and represent value for money. They do not fund day-to-day living costs (like rent or groceries) that are not related to your disability.

Yes, if your disability prevents you from using public transport. This can cover taxis or specialized transport services. It does not cover standard public transport costs like a Myki card.

Absolutely. You have Choice and Control. You can change providers at any time (subject to the notice period in your Service Agreement).
