Your Home, Your Independence, Your Way.

At Care 4 Community, we believe that independence doesn’t mean doing everything alone – it means having the right support to live life on your own terms. Our Supported Independent Living (SIL) services are designed to help NDIS participants with higher support needs live comfortably in a shared or individual home while building the skills to manage daily life with confidence.

We don’t just provide a roof over your head; we create a safe, inclusive environment where you are empowered to make choices, connect with your community, and achieve your personal goals.

What is Supported Independent Living (SIL)?

Supported Independent Living (SIL) is an NDIS-funded support that provides help with daily tasks to individuals living in shared accommodation or their own homes. It is most suitable for people who require significant support – often 24/7 – to manage their day-to-day lives.

Unlike standard drop-in support, SIL is comprehensive. It focuses on “doing with you, not just for you.” Our goal is to build your capacity, ensuring you are actively involved in your household routine rather than being a passive recipient of care.

How We Support You

Our support is never “one-size-fits-all.” Whether you need standard assistance or high-intensity care, our qualified team in Melbourne works with you to create a Roster of Care that aligns with your NDIS plan.

Our Daily Support Includes:

  • Personal Care & Hygiene: Dignified assistance with showering, dressing, and grooming.
  • Household Management: Support with cooking nutritious meals, cleaning, and laundry.
  • Skill Development: Hands-on training in budgeting, paying bills, and using public transport.
  • Medication Management: Safe administration and oversight of your medication needs.
  • Community Connection: Transport and support to attend social groups, appointments, and recreational activities in the Cranbourne, Frankston, and Clyde areas.
  • 24/7 Presence: Overnight support (active or inactive) to ensure your safety and peace of mind.

Understanding Your Funding: What is Covered?

Navigating NDIS funding can be complex. To ensure transparency, here is how SIL funding works at Care 4 Community:

What NDIS Pays For (SIL Funding)

What You Pay For (Personal Expenses)

Note: The physical house itself is often funded separately under

Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) if you are eligible. We can help you distinguish between your SIL (the support) and SDA (the bricks and mortar) funding.

Eligibility: Is SIL Right for You?

You may be eligible for SIL funding if you are an NDIS participant aged 18 or over who:

  1. Has high support needs requiring significant assistance throughout the day.
  2. Has a permanent disability that impacts functional capacity.
  3. Would benefit from living away from family to build independence.
  4. Requires a safe, structured environment to build life skills.
Unsure about your eligibility? Our team can review your current NDIS plan and guide you through the Home and Living Supports Request form.
